Syria's Sky Aviation Services is looking forward to a business aviation sector emerging in the Arab republic as the country slowly opens its economy to tourism and commerce.

In the meantime, the four-year-old business aviation handling provider is busy in the rest of the Middle East, establishing an office at the new Al Bateen executive airport in Abu Dhabi to join its base at Sharjah airport in the UAE and branches in Qatar, Oman and Senegal.

Sky is a serial attender of MEBA - it has been at every one - as well as two Dubai air shows. "Our name is well known," says commercial manager Malek Saudi. "We are having a very good show."

Its fastest-growing market is Saudi Arabia but it expects Qatar to boom as the Gulf state pours billions into its infrastructure and developing its economy in the run up to the 2022 soccer World Cup.
