Satcom Direct and Lufthansa Technik have joined forces to provide business jet operators with a wide selection of film and TV content.
The Nicemedia content, which is initially available on aircraft equipped with Nice high-definition cabin systems, is delivered via portable memory devices and no internet connection is required. Content is updated on a monthly basis and Satcom Direct is showcasing the product on its booth (477) at the show.
“Partnering with Lufthansa Technik allows us to provide quality inflight entertainment to passengers through a convenient, plug-and-play system,” said Michael Skou Christensen, regional director EMEA for Satcom Direct.
By mid-2017, the system will be available for all platforms via the Nicemedia Smartbox, powered by Satcom Direct. The system allows passengers to view content either on monitors or personal devices.
Meanwhile Satcom Direct is now authorised by Inmarsat’s Global Government Business Unit to provide and resell Inmarsat’s Ka-band Global Xpress service to global government customers for use in military, head-of-state and other government operations.
Satcom Direct has also completed the purchase of cabin communications manufacturer TrueNorth Avionics. The deal significantly expands Satcom Direct’s ability to provide advanced communications systems for VIP aircraft.
