Air Methods has expanded its aeromedical service operation as budget cuts hit US hospital and state-run programmes. The company's Arch Air Medical Service subsidiary is to operate a Bell 407 for the Champaign-Urbana-based Carle Foundation Hospital after funding for an Illinois state-operated helicopter was eliminated. Denver, Colorado-based Air Methods has initiated an independent aeromedical service in Alabama, after budget concerns led to the outsourcing of a helicopter programme run by Huntsville hospital.
