Aviation Sales is to buy Kitty Hawk's airframe and JT8D engine maintenance operations in Oscoda, Michigan. The $21.5 million deal includes a three-year agreement for airframe and engine maintenance on the airline's 34 Boeing 727s. The FHL Division of Claverham in the UK has formed a joint venture with Italy's Mecaer to produce hydraulic equipment for the aerospace market. HT Hydraulic Technologies is based at Mecaer's Borgomanero site. US engine overhaul and repair company Wood Group Gas Turbine Holdings has signed a letter of intent to acquire engine parts maker Kreisler Manufacturing. Lufthansa Technik has taken 51% of Brussels-based Belgavia Maintenance, AviaPartner's maintenance subsidiary. Saab has acquired Barracuda Technologies, the Swedish developer of signature matching technologies to provide protection against discovery and identification. Primex Technologies of St Petersburg, Florida, has acquired the actuator business of Wescam subsidiary Versatron. Northrop Grumman has bought information technology company Data Procurement in a deal valued at $35 million. Thomson-CSF Optrosys has acquired the electro-optics business unit of AlliedSignal Aerospatiale Canada. HEICO's Electronics and Ground Support Group has acquired Leader Tech, the Tampa, Florida-based producer of electromagentic and radio frequency shielding equipment. The US company has also purchased 40% of the stock of privately held R H Phillips, the UK producer of aircraft ground support equipment. HEICO's buying spree has also seen its Flight Support Group acquire Turbine Kinetics and AeroKinetics, the Glastonbury, Connecticut-based producer of jet engine parts. CHC Helicopter's Norwegian subsidiary Vinland Helicopters is close to success in its hostile bid for Helicopter Services Group, having received acceptances on more than 90% of its shares.
