Northrop Grumman is to acquire Sterling Software's Federal Systems Group (FSG) for $150 million. FSG, a specialist in intelligence systems, ATM, weather systems and modelling and simulation, will be integrated into Logicon, Northrop's IT operation, complementing recently acquired Comptek Research and Federal Data, the purchase of which is pending. FSG customers include NASA, the USAF and the Defence Information Systems Agency. Aviation Sales is selling the aircraft and engine parts redistribution operation of its Distribution Services division to Kellstrom Industries. The deal will see the pair form a 50/50 joint venture, KAV Inventory. Aviation Sales will be reduced to six MRO businesses, albeit with reduced debt. Kellstrom has meanwhile completed the purchase of Airweld's APU business, a Hercules specialist. Litton Industries has realigned its Advanced Electronics Systems group. The Guidance & Control Systems division will focus on inertial navigation systems, while its advanced electronics business will combine with Data Systems in a new unit, Litton Integrated Systems. LittonSystems Canada will report to commercial aircraft navigation specialist Litton Aero Products. BAE Systems has completed the acquisition of Lockheed Martin Control Systems for $510 million. It will be combined with BAE's US aircraft control systems, forming BAE Systems Controls. Triumph Group has agreed to buy Honeywell's line of flight control hydraulic pumps and motors, which will be produced by the group's Frisby Aerospace subsidiary in North Carolina. Lexel Imaging Systems has acquired Raytheon's cathode ray tube (CRT) manufacturing operations. The Kentucky-based company produces CRTs for cockpit displays. Frankfurt Airport has bought a stake in Brisbane Airport as part of its alliance with Schipol Group, operator of the terminal.
