Menzies World Cargo (MWC), the new UK handling venture between Lufthansa's Globe-Ground subsidiary and Menzies Transport Services, has bought the Manchester Cargo Centre (MCC) and will merge it into its own Manchester handling operation. MCC was operated under the Aer Lingus banner until last year, MWC having purchased the Irish carrier's Heathrow cargo operation in January. General Dynamics has agreed to buy propulsion and projectile and warhead integration specialist Primex Technologies, also of the US, for $32.10 per share plus $170 million of debt, launching it into the missile and precision guided missile business and boosting its munitions position. Denmark's ISS has purchased aircraft cleaning business Fernley Airport Services from Swissport International via its subsidiary Airspeed Hygiene Systems. Fernley serves London Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports. Northstar Electronics of Vancouver has launched a defence and aerospace software subsidiary, Northstar Network, which will bid on the Joint Strike Fighter and Canada's Maritime Helicopter Project. San Diego-based SYS is forming an information warfare division. Customers include the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and Program Executive Office for Strike Weapons and Unmanned Aviation.
