MESSIER-DOWTY has been selected to supply the main landing gear for the McDonnell Douglas (MDC) T-45 Goshawk trainer, replacing AP Pecision Hydraulics of the UK.

MDC says that it selected the Anglo-French company on the basis of cost, after putting the landing-gear contract out to competition as part of an affordability initiative which runs across several of its aircraft programmes.

Delivery of landing gears for US Navy T-45As will begin in January 1998, and the work is expected to be worth more than $15 million. MDC is also offering the T-45 to Australia. Messier-Dowty already produces landing gear for the MDC F-18 and AV-8B. The T-45A is a carrier-capable derivative of the British Aerospace Hawk.
