Mexico has selected EADS Casa's Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS) maritime patrol aircraft mission system. EADS says FITS will initially be fitted to two Mexican navy Casa C212-200 Aviocar coastal patrol aircraft in Spain. The Mexican navy also has an option on a further six aircraft, which would be upgraded at the Bajadas airbase in Veracruz, Mexico. The contract, for an undisclosed value, will include maintenance and the building of a mission support centre. FITS has also been selected by the United Arab Emirates for its EADS C295s and the Spanish navy for Lockheed Martin P-3 Orions. The scalable system is compatible with a range of sensors including forward looking infrared, electro-optical systems, radar and electronic surveillance systems.
