Microsoft has launched a visual-simulation software platform for modelling, training and decision support, aimed initially at the aviation market.
Microsoft ESP includes a PC-based simulation engine - from its gaming market - plus application development tools and a global geographical, cultural and environmental database.
Initial uses could include laptop simulations allowing pilots to practise new approaches or rehearse missions, says Microsoft, which is charging $799 for an EPS client licence.
