Kfir
IAI completed an upgrade of the Kfir in 1993, based on the cancelled Lavi fighter's avionics. The latest -C10 upgrade incorporates the Elta EL/M-2032 multi-mode radar. The earlier Kfir-C7 and two-seat -TC7 have an uprated GE J79-J1E afterburning turbojet.
Delivery of six Kfirs to Sri Lanka was completed in January 1996. The Philippines remains a potential customer for ex-Israeli air force aircraft, with Ecuador interested in procuring additional Kfirs. Ex-Israeli Kfir-C7s were delivered to Colombia in August 1989, without all the updated avionics requested.
Phalcon
Israel's Elta Electronics has produced an AEW system, known as the Phalcon, built around its EL/M-2075 L-band phased-array radar. One aircraft is in service with Chile, based on a Boeing 707. A system based on the Airbus A310 has been offered to Australia, and one based on the Boeing 767 to South Korea. Israel is also modifying an Ilyushin Il-76 airframe, in collaboration with Beriev, to meet a Chinese air force AEW requirement.
Phantom upgrades
IAI has begun upgrading the first of a total of 54 F-4Es for the Turkish air force based on its Phantom 2000 upgrade for the Israeli air force, but with an Elta radar.
IAI upgraded 130 Israeli air force F-4s under the Phantom 2000 programme, installing Norden (now Northrop Grumman) radars on the aircraft.
Mirage upgrades
Two Mirage III/5 upgrade options are offered by IAI's Bedek division. The first replaces the Snecma Atar 9 engine with an 80kN GE F404/RM12, providing a 30% more thrust with reduced specific fuel consumption. The second includes installing an Elta EL/M-2032 multi-mode radar. A more comprehensive upgrade has been proposed.
