KTX-2

The KTX-2 is the planned indigenous replacement for the South Korean air force's Lockheed T-33As and T-37Cs. The programme is a joint development between Samsung and Lockheed Martin, with the air force planning to acquire 94 aircraft, plus options for another 100, with deliveries beginning in 2005. Flight testing of four prototypes is to begin in 2001.

The KTX-2 is for a two-seat, supersonic light combat/trainer aircraft powered by a single 71kN-class GE F404-402 reheated turbofan, which is scheduled to be co-produced in South Korea by Samsung.
