PILOT-APTITUDE testing is being made available by the Royal Air Force to self-financing pilots anxious to find out whether it is worth spending up to £50,000 ($77,000) to train for a civil airline-transport pilot's licence.

The RAF is allowing the use of its own computer-based aptitude-testing systems at the Officer and Aircrew Selection Centre, RAF Cranwell, for a £100 fee.

The scheme has been organised by the UK's Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators (GAPAN), which acts as agent to arrange group bookings and to provide training captains to give aspiring pilots a briefing and debrief.
