Poland's defence ministry is moving forward with its effort to select mini and tactical unmanned air systems, having launched the process early last year. Final requirements are expected to be released this month, with local news agency PAP reporting a deal should be signed early this year.
Warsaw intends to acquire 12 mini UAV systems, with the selected air vehicle to have a maximum take-off weight of 10kg (22lb). Deliveries should occur by 2017. Its tactical UAV requirement is for 15 systems, with candidate aircraft to weigh up to 150kg and be delivered by 2018.
Two Israeli manufacturers are among the rivals pursuing the deal. Of these, Aeronautics Defense Systems is offering its Orbiter 2 in conjunction with PGZ, which is also promoting the PIT-Radwar-developed tactical E-310. Two of Innocon's products – the Micro Falcon and Mini Falcon II – are being proposed with a local partner.
Poland's WB Group, meanwhile, is proposing its FlyEye and vertical take-off and landing Manta.
