C&F Millier, a TI Group business, notched up three notable successes in the run-up to Farnborough '98.

The company has received Airbus approval for the use of a new rapid deployment auxiliary jack on the A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft. The design incorporates folding legs and an umbrella type deployment and has brought the total aircraft jack installation time down from 2.5 days to half a day.

The full range of Airbus and Boeing aircraft will eventually be covered by an expanded product line based on the same design principle.

Together with British Airways, C&F Millier has developed specialised equipment which replaces the need for overhead cranes when removing, transporting and storing the outsize nose cowls of the GE90 engine fitted to the Boeing 777. The new unit is quicker and more efficient and reduces the risk of damage to cowl sections when they are being handled.

C&F Millier has also signed a licence agreement for CFM56-7 engine tooling, used in the latest generation of Boeing 737 aircraft. Orders have already been placed by Scandinavian Airlines System and Hainan Airways, China.
