The US Army has awarded Northrop Grumman a $41.8 million contract to develop and demonstrate the Army Airborne Standoff Mine Detection System. The system builds on the company's earlier work developing mine detection and countermeasures for the US Navy and US Marine Corps. It is designed to locate recently buried, scattered or surface laid mines.
