TRW has tested a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), with new solid rocket motors produced by Thiokol Propulsion and Pratt & Whitney's Chemical Systems. TRW won the US Air Force's Propulsion Replacement Programme, the ICBM prime integration contract, two years ago. Designed to keep the missile force operational through 2020, a second test is set for early next year. The USAF will decide whether to begin full rate production of the motors by the end of 2000.
