EgyptAir says its missing Airbus A320 was built in 2003, and operated by an experienced captain.
Flightglobal’s Fleets Analyzer shows that EgyptAir has a fleet of 10 International Aero Engines V2500-powered Airbus A320s in service, of which five were built in 2003. These are all owned and managed by EgyptAir.
Flightradar24 lists the missing aircraft as bearing the registration SU-GCC, which Fleets Analyzer shows as MSN 2088.
In a series of tweets, EgyptAir says the pilot in command has 6,275 flight hours under his belt, of which 2,101 hours were on the A320. His co-pilot meanwhile, has clocked 2,766 flight hours.
The aircraft was operating flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo when it disappeared from radar at 02:45 local time, about 3.5 hours after taking off from Paris.
The jet was at an altitude of 37,000ft and just 10nm after entering the Egyptian airspace, which puts its location over the Mediterranean Sea. EgyptAir says there were a total of 66 people aboard the aircraft, a correction from its previous announcement of 69.
