Further Space Shuttle Crawler Transporter bearings repair work is likely to delay the STS 113 Endeavour mission to the International Space Station (ISS) until mid-November and the STS 107 FreeStar research mission to mid-January.

The bearings problem in the launch vehicle transporter has already delayed the STS 112 Atlantis mission until at least next October.

NASA engineers are working to repair defective bearings in the jacking, equalisation and levelling cylinders on Crawler Transporter 2. Fourteen of the 32 bearings have been replaced and the remainder are due to be delivered in time for the scheduled roll-out of STS 112 Atlantis.
