Japanese companies Nikkiso, ShinMaywa Industries and Yokohama Rubber have agreed to become Airbus A380 subcontractors. There are now 10 Japanese companies participating in the ultra-large airliner programme. Nikkiso will supply carbonfibre reinforced plastic cascades for the thrust reversers. ShinMaywa will supply the wing-root fillet fairings as part of its first contract with Airbus. Yokohama Rubber will supply water and waste tanks for the aircraft's water/waste management system. It is also the company's first contract with Airbus.
