The European Space Agency (ESA) will purchase two further Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) satellites from Aerospatiale on behalf of Eumetsat, the European meteorological satellite organisation, it was announced on 16 October (Flight International, 25 September-1 October). The MSG 1 will be launched in 2000 and MSGs 2 and 3 in 2002 and 2007. The contract with Aerospatiale for the three MSGs, amounts to about $800 million.
