Along with the Singapore Airlines requirement, Engine Alliance – a General Electric and Pratt & Whitney joint venture – is continuing sales campaigns to place the GP7200 with uncommitted A380 customers. China Southern Airlines’ engine selection for its five firm orders, originally due in August, is now widely expected to come by October, while a selection by Thai Airways International for six aircraft is thought to have slipped from the third quarter 2005 to around mid-2006. Other long-term selections include Qatar Airways, Kingfisher and UPS Airlines, as well as potential new A380 customers such as Jet Airways and South African Airways.
