Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport has stepped up security measures following yesterday's fatal explosion at Moscow Domodedovo.

Everyone entering the airport, including friends, relatives and airport staff, will now be subject to security checks, says Sheremetyevo. This will include the use of metal detectors to scan the baggage of anyone who enters the airport.

A new group has been created "to assist the airport in providing maximum security and allowing for proactive security measures".

Sheremetyevo is advising passengers to arrive at the airport well ahead of time to allow for the heightened security measures.

Yesterday's blast in the international arrivals hall at Domodedovo claimed 35 lives and has been described by the Russian Government as a "terrorist attack".
