The de Havilland Tiger Moth (G-AMTV) which featured on the front page of Monday's edition of Flight Daily News is - like the Farnborough airshow itself - celebrating a birthday- although in the vintage bi-plane's case it's a diamond anniversary.

In celebration of its career which spans 60 years, Tango Victor will be visiting many of the airfields where it served during a career which included spells with the British Royal Air Force and Royal Navy, and the Belgian airline Sabena.

As a type, the Tiger Moth has probably trained more pilots than any other aircraft in the history of aviation.

Pilots Tim Maynard (a British Aerospace consultant) and journalist and broadcaster Paul Beaver will be on board for the celebratory flights. They hope to raise money for an aviation-related young people's charity during the event which is supported by the Moth Club and its president, Group Captain John Cunningham, the famous de Havilland test pilot.
