Fly by wire technology has gone digital at MPC. It's the UK company's first step in trying to produce an all-electric aircraft and follows on from its success of supplying Raytheon with an all-electric flap system.

European sales engineer Chris Aldrin has been demonstrating the new technology in Hall 3, Stand C9. Operate

There would be no cables, it would weigh less, be a cleaner oil-free environment in many areas, and be a less expensive system to operate.

"However, we are also manufacturers of cockpit equipment, including flap levers, throttle sensors, side sticks and centre aisle units so were very aware of the importance of building an all-electric system that would replicate the behaviour of the hydraulic systems currently in place. "Fortunately, with our expertise in electromagnetic activation we've managed to do that. "We're confident that pilots won't notice any difference and are now keen to promote the idea of an all-electric aircraft to a wider audience."
