Indian low-cost carrier GoAir has selected Pratt & Whitney’s PW1100G engines to power the 72 new Airbus A320neos that it will be taking from 2021.
The engine-maker also scored a long-term engine maintenance deal, under its EngineWise Comprehensive service agreement, with the carrier.
P&W did not disclose the value of the contract.
Cirium fleets data indicates GoAir operates 38 PW1100G-powered A320neos at the moment.
The carrier was one of the two singled out by the Indian civil aviation authorities earlier this month to have its existing PW1100G engines replaced by the end of January 2020. This followed a spate of engine shutdowns and other issues that have plagued the P&W engines.
