Honeywell and Lufthansa Technik have announced a collaboration at the show that they promise will bring a new level of predictive maintenance expertise to airlines.
The “Digital Maintenance Offering” combines Honeywell’s Forge analytics solution and Lufthansa Technik’s Aviatar platform, Tim Butzmann, senior manager, digital products & portfolio of Lufthansa Technik, tells Flight Daily News.
“We are engaging with customers now and are aiming to work with launch customers in Q2 2020 to validate the approach with us and test in an operational environment,” says Butzmann. The products will be available through Aviatar, sold by Lufthansa Technik, and the move will see Honeywell becoming part of the Aviatar network.
“This collaboration takes advantage of the independent and neutral platform that Aviatar was introduced for,” says Butzmann. “It enables customers to be in control of their own data and supports the idea of independent data ownership.
“There is a range of 80-100 technologies on an aircraft for which prediction makes senses and our goal is to arrive at a nose-to-tail offering for an entire aircraft type,” says Butzmann. On the Airbus A320 and Boeing 777, for instance, Honeywell and Lufthansa Technik cover approaching half of the technologies with their existing products. The partnership will help expand that coverage on these and other types, he says.
