The Netherlands Coastguard has extended a maintenance agreement for two Dornier 228 maritime patrol aircraft with the turboprop’s manufacturer, Ruag.
The Switzerland-based airframer says the Dutch agency signed a three-year contract that will take effect in May.
The two aircraft have been serviced by Ruag and the manufacturer's local maintenance partner, Amsterdam-based Jet Support, since 2007.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows the two aircraft were built in 1990.
The two turboprops are equipped with additional communications technology, radar, and an infrared camera system. Services include search-and-rescue, disaster and incident control, environmental supervision and border surveillance missions.
"Reliability is essential to our sustainment requirements," says the Dutch coastguard’s director, Ronald Blok. "Our mission schedules are rigorous, our flightplans demanding and availability must be guaranteed 24h a day," he says.
