Estonian maintenance provider Magnetic MRO is to conduct heavy checks on Scandinavian Airlines' Airbus A320neo narrowbodies.
The agreement spans 23 checks under a programme running from autumn this year through winter 2020, says Magnetic MRO.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that SAS has 16 CFM International Leap-1A-powered A320neos in service and another 14 on order – six to be delivered this year and the rest in 2019.
Magnetic MRO's base maintenance director Sergei Shkolnik describes the new SAS contract as a "historical deal for us", noting that the A320neo family is "still a very young generation and not an everyday aircraft type you see in Estonia".
He adds: "We don't wait for new agreements to train our staff against new capabilities."
