Rostec division Technodinamika aims to collaborate with UK parts specialist AJW Group in order to support CFM International CFM56 powerplants in Russia.
Technodinamika has established an engine shop at Moscow Vnukovo airport and intends to service CFM56-5B and -7B at the site, which power Airbus A320ceo and Boeing 737NG models, respectively.
Director general Igor Nasenkov says the company wants to reach synergies by cooperating with a foreign specialist in the field. Pointing to AJW as a prospective partner, he says: "Negotiations to that end are under way."
AJW confirms it is in "initial discussions" with Technodinamika about a co-operation.
Technodinamika estimates airlines in the region operate a total around 520 CFM56-5B and -7B engines.
Nasenkov says this generates demand for maintenance services potentially worth $1 billion per year.
Russia’s S7 Engineering struck a deal with SR Technics in 2016 to provide on-wing support for CFM56 engines at Moscow’s Domodedovo-based facility.
This year, the partners opened a second EASA-certificated engine overhaul shop at Mineralnye Vody airport.
