Link Tools International has unveiled a premium line of new hand tools for the aerospace industry at the MRO Americas convention.
The premium line comes nearly two years after Link introduced the Black Knight brand of hand tools, with the special feature that prevents extensions from disconnecting.
A major aerospace and defence contractor launched the Black Knight product in the third quarter of 2010. The tools feature a gold-coloured collar that ensures extensions do not separate. Link also has added a tether that prevents the hand tool itself from dropping or falling into an aircraft during assembly or a repair.
For the premium line, Link has refined the design of the collar to make it smaller and tapered, allowing mechanics to use tools in smaller areas.
Link also has moved production of the tools from Taiwan to Rockford, Illinois, heeding US military procurement regulations for domestic sourcing.
