US Airways has selected Barfield, a Sabena technics company, for component maintenance services.

The agreement covers "a large range of components including avionics, hydraulic, instrument, accessories and cockpit seats for Airbus and Boeing aircraft", says Barfield in a statement released today at the Aviation Week MRO Americas show in Miami.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Barfield in 2001 opened its Tempe, Arizona facility near Phoenix Sky Harbor airport in order to support component services needs of airlines in the region and offer them customer proximity. US Airways' headquarters are in Tempe.

"Over time this site has proven to bring added value to customers through outstanding component support. As a result, Barfield Tempe has moved into a larger facility offering more opportunities for development," says Barfield.

"We certainly needed more inventory, shop and office space. The new facility backed by new investments will help us improve our service offering in avionics as well as in instruments and accessories for Airbus, Boeing and regional aircraft."

Barfield today consists of 250 employees across its US facilities in Miami, Phoenix and Louisville with a total turnover of $70 million.
