American firm AlliedSignal in Hall 4/E3 is showing a number of multi-function displays for an aircraft cockpit on colour matrix Liquid Crystal Displays.

These displays can also be found on the US-operated Lockheed C-141 Starlifter and the Spanish-operated Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules.

They have been successfully flight-tested and are currently in production in the USA.

Non-reflective

Intense engineering has produced a high-quality display that is non-reflective and operates in a high ambient light environment, ensuring they do not fade out.

They are also capable of showing different instrumentation.

Also on show is a complete package that incorporates a modernised cockpit display and complete flight controls with a new autopilot, as seen on the C-130.

Previous problems of reliability and maintainability have been tackled.

AlliedSignal claims that these improvements will pay off in less than five years.
