Honeywell is developing a new Multi-Function Radar Display (MFRD) that will show moving-map navigation, weather, terrain, traffic, checklists, video and other information on a flat LCD panel. The MFRD is sized to fit the space on an instrument panel currently occupied by the weather radar indicator. Designed for the thousands of ageing but still viable commercial, military, regional, and business aircraft, including helicopters, the unit will be available in the third quarter of 2002.Honeywell (Hall 5 Stand B11) says the system is being designed to retrofit existing aircraft.
