Cessna is stepping up marketing of its Citation Mustang after receiving US Federal Aviation Administration approval for the entry-level jet on 8 September.
Customer deliveries are to begin early next year, with 40 to 50 Mustangs expected to roll off the Independence, Kansas production line next year.
The Mustang is the first of the new generation of small jets to receive full type certification, including single-pilot, day/night visual instrument flight rules operations with reduced vertical separation minimum compliance.
Cessna expects to clear the Mustang for flight into known icing within the next few weeks, as cooler weather allows final tests in natural icing conditions. Certification includes the ability of the Garmin G1000 integrated avionics to use the GPS-based wide-area augmentation system for so-called LPV precision approaches with lateral and vertical guidance, says Cessna.
