Tokyo’s Narita Airport has reached agreement with IATA on a reduction in landing charges, which are the highest in the world. Narita proposed the drop in charges in June following years of intense pressure from airlines and industry groups. The airport operator and IATA had been meeting since then to negotiate full details of the proposal. “The total package of lower charges offered to the airlines by Narita will cost it more than ¥6 billion ($55 million) a year,” the airport says. The new fee structure will start in October.
