NASA orders Atlas launches from ULA for GOES R and GOES S

On 5 April, NASA announced that a launch contract had been awarded to United Launch Alliance (ULA) for the launch of GOES R and GOES S meteorological satellites on board two Atlas V541 launches. The value of the contract is $446 million. The launches will take place in October 2015 and February 2017 respectively from Cape Canaveral.

NASA acts on behalf of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with respect to the technical aspects of constructing and launching their spacecraft.
