NASA’s fiscal year 2006 aeronautics research budget will be restored to the planned level of $906 million, and its overall funding boosted by $275 million over FY2005, to $16.5 billion, if the appropriations budget approved by the US House of Representatives is voted through by Congress. The bill contains language directing the US president to develop a national aeronautics policy. The augmented budget fully funds NASA’s Space Shuttle and space exploration programmes, and provides an additional $40 million to partially restore the agency’s science programmes.
