More than 100 strike, inflight refuelling and airborne early-warning aircraft from 16 alliance member states are taking part in the NATO Air Meet 2004 exercise in Turkey from 4-16 September. Conducted from Turkey's Incirlik and Konya air bases, the tactical training exercise will largely focus on the suppression of enemy air defences and electronic warfare techniques, says NATO. A French air force Dassault Mirage 2000D strike aircraft is shown arriving in Turkey ahead of the manoeuvres, which also involve the deployment of a number of alliance ground-based air defence systems.
