The Indian Navy's Ilyushin Il-38SD maritime patrol aircraft made its air show debut earlier this month with a flypast of Yelahanka air force base, on the opening day of Aero India 2007 in Bangalore. The Indian navy is understood to have received three upgraded Il-38s from Russia, which have had their sensors replaced by a new system, dubbed "Sea Dragon". This includes new radars, whose antennas are visible on the upper part of the forward fuselage and under the nose. Indo-Russian joint venture Brahmos revealed plans at the show to equip the Il-38SDs with a pair of PJ-10 Brahmos missiles to supplement the standard anti-ship arsenal of smaller Kh-35 Uran missiles.
