Air BP (booth 268) has launched a general aviation rewards program in an effort to help its fixed-base operations in the USA and Canada increase their fuel sales.

Fuel buyers will be able to track their points and redeem them through a secure website, choosing from "over 45 million merchandise options", says the company.

Yvonne Putze, marketing manager, Air BP Aviation Services, says customers earn two Bravo points per gallon of fuel. In terms of redemption value, "a rough guideline is about a penny per point", she says. "It varies depending on what the items are."

Steve McCullough, vice-president sales and marketing, Air BP, says 80 of its dealers have already signed up to the Bravo scheme and "we expect to get more over the coming weeks".

He says that customers that prefer not to redeem their points for "material benefits" are being invited to use them to provide financial support for three designated charities: Habitat for Humanity, GA Serves America and Challenge Air.

"We expect those charities to evolve over the years", says McCullough.

John Frevola, vice-president and general manager of Flightcraft, an Oregon-based FBO, says: "We felt like we needed some additional tool to sell more fuel. Bravo is a very easy program for our employees to implement, and it's very flexible.

"Programmes like this give FBOs an opportunity to engender loyalty among their customers", he adds.

Meanwhile, payments company Comdata has reached an agreement with Mercury Air Group's Mercury Fuels division, the largest independent supplier of aviation fuel to the fractional jet industry, to provide a proprietary point-of-sale system for business aviation.

Designed to simplify and improve the fuel purchasing process, Comdata's web-based solution streamlines data capture and provides detailed reporting for FBOs and fractional jet organizations.
