CLEANING UP WITH SOFTWARE
ETS Aviation (booth 1648) is at NBAA promoting software that will help operators of all sizes comply with the stringent new European Union legislation. Aviation Footprinter provides operators with a fast and efficient way of analyzing, presenting and reporting annual emissions data as well as targeting operational inefficiencies, bringing down fuel costs and reducing the amount of carbon that will need to be purchased on the European Emissions Trading Scheme market.
The software has been selected by flight-planning company Flightworx Aviation as the emissions-reporting tool for its new Air Bridge service, which encompasses the whole flight planning package at a saving of up to 45%.
THE SKY BERRY GETS ITS STC
Innotech Aviation (booth 4226) has received STC for its Sky Berry System, offering all business aircraft owners and operators the ability to receive and transmit data worldwide using their personal digital assistant over a wi-fi network, at a substantially lower cost than today's prices. The Sky Berry System, which uses a router supplied by the International Communications Group, has already been installed on an HS125-800. Gesse Sciacca, director of avionics at Innotech, explains that this first installation communicates through the iridium satellite system, which is less expensive to install than other satellite systems and does not require a broadband system. However, it can also be interfaced with an existing Inmarsat Aero H satcom system. The system can be installed within two days.
THE HAWKER 4000 HAS LANDED IN AVINODE
Dubai-based Empire Aviation Group has become the first aircraft operator in the Gulf Co-operation Council to take delivery of the Hawker 4000, and the first to market this aircraft model in Avinode.
POWER AROUND THE WORLD
Astronics (booth 2926) has unveiled its 1235-8-XX AC outlet unit for use with Empower AC power supplies. The power outlet design is enhanced with additional versatility and user interface for today's business jet operators. The new design provides ready access to AC power in passenger seats, flightdecks, and off-seat locations. With the addition of Swiss and Italian plug compatibility, the 1235-8- XX accommodates plugs from 155 countries.
AVINODE LAUNCHES CHARTER INDEXES
Avinode (booth 4438) has launched Charter Indexes, measuring demand, availability and pricing within the US domestic and international charter markets. The indexes provide the industry with pertinent information and trend indicators to track where the market has been and where it is heading in terms of supply, demand, and overall activity.
FLIGHTPORTAL HAS THE X-FACTOR
CharterX (booth 3831) and Computing Technologies for Aviation have launched FlightPortal with FOSLink. This online service lets FOS flight departments and charter operators offer customers, owners and crewmembers immediate access to current and future flight activity through a password-protected portal on their own websites or intranet.
FBO TOOLBOX OFFERED BY FLIGHTAWARE
Aviation website FlightAware, with over 2,000,000 users and 150,000 registered pilots, has released FBO Toolbox, the first version of a new comprehensive market analysis and flight tracking application for FBOs. FBO Toolbox enables FBO managers to see a more complete picture of the flying habits of their current and potential customers.
GORE CAN OFFER FAA APPROVALS
The Federal Aviation Administration is to award completions center Gore Design Completions (GDC) an approved Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) that permits it to issue special airworthiness certificates, standard airworthiness certificates and supplemental type certificates approving all modifications made to an aircraft while at GDC for completion.
