US start-up Aviation Technologies International (ATI) has launched the sales campaign for its redesigned RT-700 pressurised piston twin by unveiling a mock-up at NBAA. Ravi Tripuraneni, founder and president of the Orange County, California-based company, says ATI is in the final stages of selecting a powerplant for the RT-700, which is targeted at the business, air-taxi and special missions markets, with the 300hp (225kW) Thielert Centurion 4.0 turbo-diesel and Continental TSIO-550A both under evaluation. The new design features a shorter fuselage and wing to reduce drag. "We have cut about 5ft [1.5m] off the 32ft fuselage - but we have increased cabin height and width," he says. The redesign has also decreased fuel consumption by up to 40%, he says. The RT-700 has a maximum cruise speed of 280kt (520km/h) and a range of 2,420km (1,310nm).
