ACSS’s TCAS 3000 Surveillance Processor (SP) has been selected by Cessna as an option for its Citation Mustang VLJ aircraft. ACSS, which is jointly owned by L-3 Communications and Thales, is exhibiting on the L-3 stand (Booth 4200).

The new TCAS 3000 SP can combine certified ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) capability with ACSS’s Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System technology.

The Mustang selection includes the RCZ-852 Mode S Transponder, which is a full-feature ICAO Level 3 Mode S diversity transponder in a small, lightweight package optimised for corporate aircraft.

TCAS 3000 SP is the latest version of the ACSS product, which can include the SafeRoute software enhancement. SafeRoute takes advantage of the built-in ADS-B functionality to include the Surface Area Movement Management (SAMM), Merging and Spacing, CDTI AssistedVisual Separation (CAVS), and Cockpit Display of Traffic Information (CDTI) features.

Kris Ganase, L-3’s president of the Aviation Products Group, says: “This is a very important win for us. The first step was to get our hardware on the aircraft, which we have now done. The second step, at a later date, will be to include SafeRoute. There has been a lot of talk about VLJs, but there are only a few companies actually going ahead with their projects. I believe that the VLJ market will take off and it is important for us to be there with our product.”

To underline the importance of TCAS in its product line, ACSS is set to present its 10,000th TCAS unit to Dassault at a ceremony at the L-3 booth on Tuesday, October 7, at 4:30pm.

ACSS has also announced that its TAWS+performance product has now been selected by Hawker Beechcraft for its King Air C90GTi, B200GT and 350, Premier IA, 750 and 400XP aircraft. The TAWS+ and TAWS+performance are stand-alone Class A TAWS products.
