Elbit Systems (Booth 3113) has announced several major contract wins at NBAA this year.
The Kollsman second-generation Enhanced Vision System (EVS II), already certified on Gulfstream’s G350, G450 and G550 since 2007, has now been selected for all Gulfstream aircraft, including the G650, Gulfstream’s newest and most advanced cockpit. EVS II has also been selected for Embraer’s new Lineage 1000 aircraft, the first Embraer aircraft to be certified with an Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS).
Part of Kollsman’s Vision Based Cockpit and the FAA’s Next Generation Air Transport System, EVS II allows pilots to see through darkness and adverse weather, by displaying an infrared sensor image on a Head-Up Display (HUD) and operate as if it were natural vision down to 100 feet above touchdown zone.
In addition, Elbit announced that the Kollsman General Aviation Vision System (GAViS) has been selected and is undergoing installation and certification on Piaggio Aero Avanti II aircraft. The GAViS will be certified for the P-180 which is applicable to both the Avanti I and the Avanti II aircraft. This installation is scheduled to be installed and certified by the end of 2008.
“The simple antenna-like design will provide real-time imagery of the outside scene in darkness and low visibility conditions to improve flight safety and increased situation awareness for general aviation,” says Raanan Horowitz, Elbit president and CEO.
