Flight services provider Arinc Direct is debuting its Direct Connect onboard communications system. The product offers three distinct capabilities in one portable device, says the company: ACARS messaging, including graphical weather, using an iPad app as the user interface; voice, using an iPhone or Android device; and managed email. Using the Iridium or Inmarsat satellite networks, the Arinc Direct Connect system enables global connectivity and seamless operation of common communication forms for both pilots and passengers, says the company.
