GE Aviation announced on 20 October that the Passport engine for the Bombardier Global 7000 and 8000 will begin flight tests in early 2015.
Its updated schedules extend the Passport development programme by several months, but engine certification is still expected in 2015.
The 16,000lb-thrust-class engine is being prepared to support first flight of the Global 7000 in 2016, before first delivery of the aircraft by year-end.
Passport features a 127cm- (50in-) diameter, single-piece front fan, an advanced core and other special features, including the first mixer made from oxide-oxide ceramic matrix composite material in a commercial engine.
Separately, GE Aviation supplier Nexcelle has delivered the nacelle for the flight test Passport engine after completing initial ground tests.
