Nepal Airlines has confirmed an order for two sharklet-equipped Airbus A320s.
The confirmation comes after the Nepali flag carrier signed a memorandum of understanding for the two aircraft in April. Engine selection, which will either be the CFM International CFM56 or International Aero Engines V2500, has not been announced yet.
The two aircraft will be equipped with Required Navigation Performance technologies, that will allow them to fly precise routes using their onboard navigation systems. Airbus says that this will be particularly beneficial for operating out of high altitude airports, such as Nepal Airlines base at Kathmandu.

In May, Nepal Airlines also issued a request for proposals seeking to lease two A320s equipped with IAE V2527E-A5 engines in two-class configuration. The airline is seeking delivery of the first aircraft by 26 October and the second by 29 March 2014.
Flightglobal Ascend data shows that Nepal Airlines operates a fleet of two Boeing 757-200s and four de Havilland DHC 6-300 turboprops. It also has orders for two Xian Aircraft MA60 turboprops.
