Air Namibia will on 30 October start flights to Durban in South Africa from Windhoek, with a stopover in Botswana's capital Gaborone.
The flights, which are enabled by fifth-freedom rights to operate between Durban and Gaborone, will be conducted four times per week with Embraer ERJ-135s, says the carrier.
It adds that the two destinations are the first to be confirmed under a five-year route network and schedule development plan. Others are to be disclosed when government approvals are granted.
FlightGlobal schedules data shows that there are currently no services from Windhoek to Gaborone or Durban.
Air Namibia's Windhoek-Maun route is the only link to Botswana from its home country.
It serves two South African destinations from Windhoek, competing with South African Airways to Cape Town and with that carrier and Comair to Johannesburg.
The same points in South Africa are also served from Walvis Bay by Air Namibia. SAA provides competition on both routes.
Flight Fleets Analyzer lists four ERJ-135s in Air Namibia's fleet, alongside four Airbus A319s and two A330s.
