Italian flag carrier Alitalia is to resume flights to India nine years after it last served the country.
The SkyTeam member says it will operate a daily Rome-Delhi service from 30 October 2017 until 24 March 2018.
FlightGlobal schedules data shows that Air India will offer competition on the route.
India's capital is the second intercontinental destination Alitalia has disclosed plans to start serving this year. The carrier will begin flights to Male in the Maldives on 31 October.
It also plans to extend its Los Angeles service into the winter season.
Alitalia says the Delhi flights will be operated with a "newly designed" Airbus A330, to include Poltrona Frau seats in business class, a renovated cabin, and wi-fi connectivity.
Under the terms of an agreement with Jet Airways, Alitalia passengers will be able to connect from Delhi to other Indian cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Jaipur, Kolkata and Mumbai.
