American Airlines will begin 10 new routes to five of its hub next summer, continuing to connect many of the cities it already serves with its various bases.
The Oneworld Alliance carrier will connect Bangor, Charleston (South Carolina) and Myrtle Beach to Chicago O'Hare; Asheville and Oakland to Dallas/Fort Worth; Bozeman and Flagstaff to Los Angeles; Portland (Maine) and Traverse City to New York LaGuardia; and Amarillo and Oklahoma City to Phoenix beginning in April 2018, it says.
Six of the routes will operate seasonally through the summer, with Dallas/Fort Worth-Oakland, New York-Portland and the two Phoenix routes operating year round.
All but the Oakland route will be flown by American Eagle carriers using a variety of Bombardier CRJ700 or CRJ900 aircraft, or Embraer ERJ-140 or E175 aircraft. Oakland will be flown with an Airbus A320.
American will compete with a variety of carriers on its new routes, including Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and United Airlines, FlightGlobal schedules show.
